
The ChronoPoints team had a wide variety of speaking engagements in October/November.
Drs. Jessica Robkin and Lori Walters presented at the Learning Institute for Elders at UCF on October 28. Their presentation, titled Preserving Your Story:
The Power is in Your Hands addressed aspects of our National Endowment for the Humanities funded CHET project.
Langan Engineering enabled Dr. Walters to speak with their representative, Russell Hall, at the Florida Region workshop of the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) in November. The presentation, Digitally Documenting Our Past for Future Generations, focused on our National Endowment for the Humanities funded MemoryScan project.
Dr. Robkin travelled to Boston to speak at the American Society for Overseas Research (ASOR) 2025 Annual Meeting. Her presentation addressed The 2025 Season of the Kerkenes Project. This included a discussion of laser scanning activities at the Kerkenes archaeological site.
Finally, Dr. Walters and Ms. Abbie Easter participated in the 2025 Orange County Schools Teach-In at Legacy Middle School. We brought our Leica RTC 360 laser scanner and gave a presentation on the laser-scanning profession and how students can learn to scan their family artifacts with their smartphones.
On the publication front, recent UCF SMST graduate Dr. John Sermarini’s work – Evaluating the Effectiveness of Augmented Reality Interfaces for Quadrupedal Robot Motion Control was published in the SUI ’25: Proceedings of the 2025 ACM Symposium on Spatial User Interaction. Co-author, Dr. Joseph T. Kider, at Clemson University, presented the paper in Montreal. Additional authors are Dr. Crystal Maraj, Dr. Mustapha Mouloua, and Dr. Lori Walters.
